A. INDIVIDUAL ITEMS
 
  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Annual Review of the Five-year Facility Improvement Plan (Dr. Yarborough)
 
In accordance with Policy FB, Facilities Planning, each year the Board of Education will review the Five-Year Facility Improvement Plan.
 
  1. Aiken County Public School District (ACPSD) Underperforming Schools’ Turnaround Plans Approval and Submission – 2024-2025 School Year (Dr. Edwards)
 
In accordance with S.C. Code Ann. 59-18-1624 (B)(1). For all underperforming schools, the district is required to consult with school and community stakeholders to review and revise the schools’ and district’s strategic plans with the assistance of their School Improvement Council, to include a turnaround plan component (Continuous Improvement Plan). The turnaround plan must include input from the community and must be approved by the local school board and then submitted to the SCDE Office of School Transformation for approval.
 
                       
  1. CONSENT ITEMS:   The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Murphy)
 
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section
 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it is solely empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out 2024-2025 (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”

  1. Peter R. Marsh Foundation Music Grant Award to Leavelle McCampbell Middle School – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Leavelle McCampbell Middle School’s Music Program has been awarded a $1,550.00 Music Grant award from the Peter R. March Foundation. These funds will be used for instrument repair, new music, and transportation to senior facilities for student performances.
 
  1. Construction bids for Oakwood-Windsor Elementary Secure Vestibule (Dr. Yarborough)
 
Bids were received for the Oakwood-Windsor Elementary Secure Vestibule on January 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened.

In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
