A. INDIVIDUAL ITEMS
 
  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.

The administrative certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department, and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Re-employment of Certified Personnel for the 2025-2026 School Year (Mrs. Hart)
 
Personnel are employed for a one-year period by the Board of Education. According to state law, certified personnel must be informed by May 1st of their employment status for the ensuing year, or they will automatically be deemed “re-employed”.

  1. District Strategic Plan (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Each school district must develop a five-year district strategic plan, and each school must develop a five-year school renewal plan as required by the Early Childhood Development and Academic Assistance Act of 1993 and the Education Accountability Act of 1998. District and school plans shall coordinate and align improvement initiatives {State Board Regulations 43-261}. As part of a continuous improvement process, each district is required to submit an update to its strategic plan every spring.
 
  1. Code of Student Conduct – First Reading (Dr. Yarborough)
 
The Code of Student Conduct is reviewed and updated annually. As part of this process, a discipline steering committee consisting of community members, parents, educational leaders, teachers, board members, and administrators from all three grade levels reviews the Code of Conduct and considers recommended additions, deletions, and revisions from school.
 
  1. 2025-2026 Budget – First Reading (Mr. Traxler)
 
In its 2025-2026 budget calendar, the Board scheduled presentations of the First Reading of the budget for April 22, 2025, and the Second & Final Reading for May 27, 2025. A budget hearing is scheduled during the May 13, 2025, Board meeting.
 
B.   CONSENT ITEMS:   The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Murphy)
 
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section
 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it is solely empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out 2025-2026 (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
 
  1. Request to Admit Foreign Exchange Students (Dr. Minolfo)
 
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County.
 
  1. Additional Local School Board Courses for 2025-2026 (Dr. Edwards)
 
The School board must approve locally designed courses annually.
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Arts Commission – Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Grant Application by New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School – FY26 (Dr. Edwards)
 
New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School would like to submit an application to the SC Arts Commission for the Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Grant in the amount of $12,500.00.
 
  1. Anonymous Donation to Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle/High School and Wagener-Saley High- FY 25 (Dr. Edwards)
 
The District has received a $2,500.00 donation from an anonymous donor to be applied to senior student balances for students determined to be most in need at two designated high schools.
 
  1. 2025 Painting of Aiken Intermediate and Mossy Creek Elementary School (Dr. Yarborough)
 
Bids were received on March 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened for the 2025 Painting of Aiken Intermediate and Mossy Creek Elementary School.
 
 
C.     INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: The following items are for information only and do not require Board Action.
 
  1. Construction Status Reports for the New Aiken County Career and Technology Center Project (Dr. Yarborough)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, Goodwyn Mills and Cawood (GMC), and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Report for the North Augusta High Athletic Fields Phase 4 Project (Dr. Yarborough)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
