A.INDIVIDUAL ITEMS

 
  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Design Development Drawings/Budget for the new Wagener-Salley High School Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
The administration in conjunction with the Architect has completed the Design Development Plans and Budget for the new Wagener-Salley High School Project and will present to Aiken County Board of Education for final approval.
 
  1. Naming of the former Lloyd Kennedy Charter School Facility (Dr. Murphy)
 
The former Lloyd Kennedy Charter School, located at 130 Avery Lane, Aiken SC29801 was purchased by ACPSD in late summer of 2021.It currently houses Aiken INNOVATE teachers and coordinators, provides a testing site for Aiken INNOVATE students and provides storage for AC Gateway and technology. It is being referred to, in-house, as Six Points.
 
  1. Proposed One-Time Uses of Fund Balance (Mr. Traxler)
 
Board policy DA describes the District’s fund thresholds.At the conclusion of the June 30, 2022, audit, the Administration expects unassigned fund balance to represent slightly less than three month’s reserves.Fund balance has been utilized periodically to address one-time (non-recurring) needs while continuing to maintain fund balance at sufficient levels.
 
 

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers In (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that non-resident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation.The Board will nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA admission of resident students. The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”
 
 
 
 
 
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the district, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
  1. South Carolina Department of Education Equitable Arts Advancement Program (EAAP) Grant Award – Schofield Middle School – FY23 (Mrs. Glover)
 
Schofield Middle School has been awarded a South Carolina Department of Education Equitable Arts Advancement Program (EAAP) Grant Award in the amount of $9,750.00. This grant will assist in the developing and implementing arts initiatives that support quality arts education programs for all students that significantly improve student achievement in the arts and support their Achieving World Class Standards in the Visual Arts (AWCSVA) programs.Funds will be used for professional development, substitutes, quality equipment, materials and supplies, student field experiences, and artist in residence activities.
 
  1. South Carolina Department of Education Equitable Arts Advancement Program (EAAP) Grant Award – Aiken Elementary School – FY22 (Mrs. Glover)
 
Aiken Elementary School has been awarded a South Carolina Department of Education Equitable Arts Advancement Program (EAAP) Grant Award in the amount of $10,000.00.By implementing the Theatre and Dance standards, the school aims to improve student achievement in the visual and performing arts.Through residencies, all students will have access to a complete Arts experience.In order to meet the goals of the project, funds will be used to cover a Dance residency for the 2022-2023 school year, allow music and art teachers to attend professional conferences, and pay for classroom subs so that teachers can meet for cross-curricular planning.
 
  1. Aiken Sunrise Rotary Club Donation – Oakwood Windsor Elementary School – FY23 (Mrs. Glover)
 
Oakwood-Windsor Elementary School has received a donation from the Aiken Sunrise Rotary Club in the amount of $3,307.85.The funds will be used to purchase soccer goals for the upper grade playground. Any remaining funds will be used to purchase water, water bottles, and other student care items.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
  1. South Carolina Arts Commission – Arts in Basic Curriculum Grant Award – East Aiken School of the Arts – FY23 (Mrs. Glover)
 
East Aiken School of the Arts has been awarded a South Carolina Arts Commission for the Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Grant in the amount of $12,500.00.The purpose of the ABC grant is to assist schools and districts in developing and implementing arts initiatives that support quality arts education programs that significantly improve student achievement in the arts.The monies will be used to fund substitute teachers for arts teachers to conduct strategic planning to implement arts integration strategies across all grade levels, equipment maintenance, artists-in-residence instruction, professional development, arts-based field trips, and supplies and materials for theatre, music, dance, visual arts, and performances.
 
 
  1. South Carolina Department of Education Equitable Arts Advancement Program (EAAP) Grant Award – Leavelle McCampbell Middle School – FY23 (Mrs. Glover)
 
Leavelle McCampbell Middle School (LMMS) has been awarded a South Carolina Department of Education Equitable Arts Advancement Program (EAAP) Grant Award in the amount of $10,000.00.All planned activities will support the overall goal of the project, which is to significantly improve student achievement in visual art through curriculum, instruction, and assessment based on the South Carolina Academic Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts (SCASVPA).Other activities will include writing skills development and community service opportunities.The activities will culminate in a Valley Empty Bowl event that Leavelle McCampbell Middle School is creating which will be a student/community-centered charity event that will benefit local and global non-profits.Grant funds will be used for materials, equipment (potter’s wheel and seat), supplies, ceramic artist-in-residency, author artist-in-residency, and staff development.
 
  1. Items to be declared surplus and method of disposal (Mr. Traxler)
 
Miscellaneous school furnishings and equipment have been screened and determined to be obsolete and is no longer of use to the District.Board approval is requested for the disposal of these items (ACPSD Procurement Code article 15 Supply Management Sections 3810 and 3820).
 
  1. Items to be declared Electronic Surplus and method of disposal (Mr. Traxler)
 
Electronic equipment has been determined to be obsolete and are no longer of use to the District.Board approval is required for the disposal of any screened surplus items.In accordance with the (ACPSD Procurement Code Article 15 Supply Management Section 3810 and 3820).
