- INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: The following items are for information only and do not require Board action.
1. Financial Report as of April 30, 2016 (Mr. Traxler)
The financial report of April 30, 2016 is submitted in the approved format.
2. GMP #3 for Aiken High School Phase 2A Addition (Dr. Foster)
H.G. Reynolds Company, Inc. received bids for CM at Risk for Aiken High Phase 2A Construction. The original construction budget approved by the Board on April 19, 2016, final construction document estimate of $29,343,834. The GMP for the Phase 2A Building and Site is $28,810,639 or $533,195 under budget. The budget needed is $34,843,562 plus a project contingency of $1,000,000 gives a total project cost for Phase 2A is $35,843,562. This is $1,468,514 under the original budget that was approved by the Board on April 19, 2016.
3. GMP #3 for North Augusta High School Phase 2A and 2B Addition (Dr. Foster)
H.G. Reynolds Company, Inc. received bids for CM at Risk for North Augusta High Phase 2A; Demolition, Phase 2B Construction. The original construction budget approved by the Board on January 26, 2016, final construction document estimate of $41,084,000. The GMP for the Phase 2A; Demolitions, Phase 2B Building and Site is $39,984,978 or $1,099,022 under budget. The budget needed is $49,161,562 plus a project contingency of $1,500,000 gives a total project cost for Phase 2A and Phase 2B is $50,661,562. This is $2,657,253 under the original budget that was approved by the Board on January 26, 2016.
4. Legislative Update (Mr. Liner)
- CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group. Individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
1. Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Alford)
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws of South Carolina Sections 59-63-240, is authorizes to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
2. Out-of-District Transfer Requests (Dr. Stowe)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
3. Lowe’s Flip That Playground Toolbox for Education Grant to Warrenville Elementary School – FY16 (Mr. Laurence)
Warrenville Elementary School was given a $5,000 Lowe’s Flip That Playground Toolbox for Education grant. Funds from this grant award will be used to purchase additional equipment, patio benches, and mulch for the 5-K playground.
4. GlaxoSmithKline donation to Aiken County Career and Technology Center – FY16 (Mr. Laurence)
Aiken County Career and Technology Center received a $7,500 donation from GlaxoSmithKline. Funds from this donation will provide one $2,500 scholarship and ten $500 scholarships for students at the Career Center.
5. Budget Adjustment #1(FY16); Fund 1(General Fund) (Mr. Traxler)
Periodically during the fiscal year, the Division of Fiscal Services submits adjustments to the approved budget as may be required in the conduct of operations.
