  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Revision of the following policy: Policy DKA Payroll Procedures/Schedules, First Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Policy DKA Payroll/Procedures Schedules establishes frequency and timelines for employee paychecks.
 
 
  1. Revision of the following policy:  Policy GCOA Evaluation of Instructional Staff, Second Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Policy GCOA Evaluation of Instructional Staff “establishes the basic structure for the evaluation of the professional instructional staff.”The date for recommendation for non-renewal was March 15 annually.Administration has revised the date to April 30th annually.
 
  1. Revision of the following policy:  Policy GCQE Retirement of Professional Staff, Second Reading, Policy GDQC Retirement of Support Staff, Second Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Policy GCQE Retirement of Professional Staff and Policy GDQC Retirement of Support Staff provide guidance to district employees regarding retirement procedures.
 
 
  1. Update of 2022-23 return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan (Mrs. Hart)
 
On March 11, 2021 the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act was signed into law.As part of ARP, the U.S. Department of Education is providing an additional $121.9 billion for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER III Fund).This legislation is awarding grants, to provide local education agencies, including Aiken County Public Schools, with emergency relief funds to address the impact of COVID-19 on elementary and secondary schools across the nation.
 
 
  1. Revisions to the Code of Student Conduct – Second Reading (Dr. Murphy & Ms. Braxton)
 
The Code of Student Conduct is reviewed and updated annually.As part of this process a discipline steering committee consisting of community members, parents, educational leaders, teachers, board members and administrators from all three grade levels reviews the Code of Student Conduct, and considers recommended additions, deletions, and revisions from school administrators.
 
  1. 2023-2024 Budget – Second/Final Reading (Mr. Traxler
 
In its 2023-2024 budget calendar, the Board scheduled presentations of the first reading of the budget for April 18, 2023, and the second & final reading for May 23, 2023.A budget hearing was held during the May 9, 223, Board meeting.
 
 
 

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
 
The School Board according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school.Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
 
 
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers In (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that non-resident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation.The Board will nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA admission of resident students. The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the district, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
  1. Request to Admit Foreign Exchange Students (Dr. Minolfo)
 
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of the exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County
 
  1. Local Board Approved Courses for 2023-2024 (Dr. Edwards, Dr. Gambill, Mr. Postell)
 
The school board must approve locally designed courses annually.
 
  1. Change Order #1 for 2023 Replacement of Exterior Signs at Busbee Elementary, Greendale Elementary, Schofield Middle and Silver Bluff High (Dr. Murphy)
 
Change Order #1 for 2023 Replacement of Exterior Signs at Busbee Elementary, Greendale Elementary, Schofield Middle and Silver Bluff High project for Aiken County Public Schools is submitted for your service and approval. Total Credit Change Order #1 amount is <$29,205.00>.
