In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Reports for the Midland Valley High Addition Renovation Project (Dr. Foster)

    In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
     
  2. Construction Status Reports for the North Augusta High School Phase III Addition Project (Dr. Foster)

    In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s ‘review.
     
  3. Construction Status Reports for the Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle/High Phase 2 Addition Project (Dr. Foster)

    In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
     
  4. Facilities Construction Department Quarterly Change Order Notification (Dr. Foster)

    Policy FGG sets the limit of approval for construction changes orders by the Superintendent, or designee up to $15,000.00.  The policy requires a summary of such change orders to be presented to the Board at least once a quarter for notification.





     

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
 

  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)

The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school.Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Portable Classroom Units Relocation Services, 2019 Annual Contract for Aiken County Public Schools (Dr. Foster)

Request for Proposals were received for Portable Classroom Units Relocation Services, 2019 Annual Contract for Aiken County Public Schools on December 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened.There was 1 proposer with the lowest bid being submitted by J.E. Oswalt & Sons, Inc.
 
  1. GMP #2 for Ridge Spring Monetta Elementary Addition Phase III Project (Dr. Foster)

H.G. Reynolds Company, Inc., received bids for CM at Risk for Ridge Spring Monetta Elementary Addition Phase III Project.The original construction budget approved by the board on December 17, 2019 final construction document estimate was $20,333,439.00.The GMP #2 for the Phase III RS-M Elementary Addition is $20,003,080.00 or $330,359.00 under the construction budget.The road widening SCDOT requirement on US 1 and Trojan is included in this scope.The total budget needed is $24,323,842.00 which includes an owner project contingency of 4%.
 
  1. John Waugh Donation to Oakwood-Windsor Elementary School – FY20 (Mrs. Glover)

Oakwood-Windsor Elementary School was given a $2,400.00 donation from John Waugh.The funds from this donation will be used to fund a field trip for fifth grade students to Patriots Point in Charleston, SC.
 
  1. Public Education Partners/Savannah River Nuclear Solutions Donation to New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School – FY20 (Mrs. Glover)

New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School was given a $5,962.32 donation from Public Education Partners/Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.The funds from this donation will be used to purchase fourteen science lab tables.








 
  1. Construction Bids for Millbrook Elementary Addition & Renovations Project (Dr. Foster)

Bids were received for the Construction bids for Millbrook Elementary Addition & Renovations Project on December 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened.Bids were received from 5 vendors with McKnight Construction Co., Inc. submitting the lowest base bid of $9,422,000.00; Alternate #1 ($44,700.00) to add sinks and plumbing lines in classrooms; Alternate #2 ($100,000.00) for boiler replacements;Alternate #3 ($100,000.00) for kindergarten renovations.Total construction cost for McKnight Construction Co., Inc. is $9,666.700.00.The design, printing, advertising, soft costs, amounts to $1,825,000.00.Furnishings, Fixtures, Equipment, Technology, and contingency amounts to $450,000.00.The budget needed is $11,941,700.00 and will come from the Property Tax Bond approved in May 2018 and the Fund Five Facilities Improvement Plan.

The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests (Mr. Laurence)

Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
  1. Changes to Policy EFE Competitive Food Sales, Final Reading (Mr. Traxler)

School Board Policy EFE addresses competitive food sales in school day settings.The current policy prohibits any competitive food sales at the elementary level.
