A. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: The following items are for information only and do not require Board action.
1. SCSBA Legislative Update – Mr. Scott Price
2. Financial Report, as of November 30, 2011 (Mr. Traxler)
The financial report of November 30, 2011 is submitted in the approved format.
3. Freshman Academy Update (Dr. Yarborough)
4. Construction Status Reports for the Byrd Learning Center (BLC) Food
Service Operation Center Project (Mr. Caver)
5. Construction Status Reports for the Jackson Middle School Additions
Project (Mr. Caver)
B. CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group. Individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
1. Out-of-District Transfer Request (Area 4) (Dr. Stowe)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
2. Application for Impact Aid (Section 8003, Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965) (Mr. Traxler)
Section 8003 provides funds to school district for students residing on or having parents working on federal property. On October 18, 2011, survey forms were distributed to all students in the District in order to determine the number of eligible students.
3. University of South Carolina-Aiken Donation to Busbee-Corbett Elementary/Middle School – FY12 (Dr. O’Gorman)
Busbee-Corbett Elementary/Middle School was given a $1,994.50 donation from University of South Carolina-Aiken. Funds from this donation will be used to support Making Middle Grades Work.
C. INDIVIDUAL ITEMS:
1. Personnel Appointments (Dr. Hewett)
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Personnel Services Department and interviewed and approved by the Principal and the Academic Officers.
2. Policy Changes Related to Reorganization – First Reading (Mr. Burkhalter)
As the District continues to implement its administrative reorganization, numerous policies have been identified that need to have references to Area Assistant Superintendents stricken and to have inserted appropriate Academic Officers or appropriate designated administrator. We believe the attached list is inclusive, but will continue to make sure all policies are properly amended to implement reorganization. The attached list also includes Section D policies with changes submitted by the District Comptroller.
