The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
 
 
  1. Policy JLCG Seizure Safe Schools – Second Reading Dr. Minolfo)
 
Per the South Carolina Code of Laws (Section 59-10-215), “Each school district and charter school shall adopt a seizure training program to provide instruction in understanding the basics about epilepsy and its impact on student learning, recognizing signs and symptoms of seizures, the appropriate steps to be taken to respond to symptoms of a seizure, and the administration of seizure medications.  The training must be consistent with guidelines established by a qualified nonprofit that supports the welfare of individuals with epilepsy and seizure disorders. The completion of this training must be documented by the school district and training may be provided virtually provided by school or district staff or may be conducted by an individual trained to deliver such information.
 
 
  1. Policy JLCD Assisting Students with Medicines, Policy JLCDA Individual Healthcare Plans (IHPs)-Second Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
 
 
Per the South Carolina Code of Laws (Sections 59-63-80 and 69-63-90, “Each school district shall adopt a policy requiring that students with special health care needs have Individual Health Care Plans (IHPs). This policy must address the administration of medication needed for the student’s specific health care needs, address training requirements specific to students’ health care need for school personnel with direct student contact when appropriate as determined by the school nurse and provide information to additional school personnel on recognizing signs and symptoms associated with specific medical conditions. Additionally, the plan must provide for the authorization of a student to self-monitor and self-administer medication as prescribed by the student’s health care practitioner unless there is sufficient evidence that unsupervised self-monitoring or self-medication would seriously jeopardize the safety of the student or others.”
 
 
 
  1. 2025-2026 Budget – Second/Final Reading (Mr. Traxler)
 
In its 2025-2026 budget calendar, the Board scheduled presentation of the First Reading of the budget for April 22, 2025, and the Second & Final Reading for May 27, 2025. A budget hearing was held during the May 13, 2025, Board Meeting.
 
 
  1. CONSENT ITEMS:   The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
 
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out 2025-2026 (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the district, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
 
  1. Public Education Partners (PEP) of Aiken County Grant Awards to the Aiken County Public School District – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
 
The Aiken County Public District has received $5305.96 in grant awards from the Public Education Partners (PEP) of Aiken County. The funds will be used to fund eleven ACPSD teacher grant awards.
 
  1. Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) Innovative Teaching Mini Grant Awards to Aiken County Public School District (Dr. Edwards)
 
The Aiken County Public School District has received $18,750.00 in mini-grant awards from Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS). Twenty-eight ACPSD teachers were selected to receive awards.
 
  1. Construction bids for East Aiken School of the Arts Vestibule (Dr. Yarboro
 
Bids were received for the East Aiken School of the Arts secure vestibule on May 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened.
 
 
  1. GMP #1 Aiken High School softball field drainage improvements and scorer’s tower (Dr. Yarborough)
 
Replacement of the existing Aiken High School softball bleachers and press box. This project includes installing new bleachers, home side and away, removal of old bleachers, grading/earthwork/recrowning the field, erosion control, concrete sidewalks, and ADA parking. The GMP for this project is $576,252. The funding for Aiken High School softball bleachers, field, and scorer’s tower will come from the original 2014 1% sales tax funds.
