A.INDIVIDUAL ITEMS

 
  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Issuance and Sale of General Obligation Bonds, Series 2023 (Mr. Traxler)
 
Section 15 of Article X of the Constitution of the State of South Carolina provides that subsequent to November 30, 1982, school districts of the State may incur bonded indebtedness in an amount not exceeding eight percent (8%) of the accessed value of all taxable property therein.The School Board approved the issuance of $20,000,000 bonds in the District’s adopted 2023-2024 budget and as part of the District’s Five-Year Facilities Plan.
 
 

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers In (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that non-resident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation.The Board will nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA admission of resident students. The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the district, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
  1. Aiken County Association for Special Citizens Inc. Donation to Oakwood-Windsor Elementary School – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Aiken County Association for Special Citizens Inc. has donated $1,081.17 to Oakwood-Windsor Elementary School for the purchase of a light table to support student learning.
 
 
 
 
 
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Department of Education Stronger Connections Subgrant Application for Aiken County Public School District – FY-24 (Dr. Edwards)
 
The Instructional Services Division of Aiken County Public School District is requesting to submit a grant application to South Carolina Board of Education.Stronger Connections Subgrant Program in the amount of $25,000 per year for two years ($50,000 total). Grant will be used for artist-in-residencies, professional development, arts-based fieldtrips, instructional supplies, and intercession activities.
 
  1. Team Works Fundraiser Donation to New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)
 
TeamWorks has donated $2,923.60 to the New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School’s Athletic Department for the purchase of uniforms, sports equipment, and sport’s banquet awards and incentives.

  1. Construction Status Report for the Aiken High Auditorium School Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Report for the Hammond Hill Elementary School Additions and Renovations Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, Cheatham Fletcher Scott (CFS), and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Report for the Highland Springs Middle School Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Report for the Wagener-Salley High School New Construction Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith, and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
