A.INDIVIDUAL ITEMS

 
  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Revision of the following policy:  Policy GCOA Evaluation of Instructional Staff, First Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Policy GCOA Evaluation of Instructional Staff “establishes the basic structure for the evaluation of the professional instructional staff.”The date for recommendation for non-renewal was March 15 annually.Administration has revised the date to April 30th annually.
 
  1. Revision of the following policy:  Administrative Rule GBC-R Staff Compensation (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Administrative Rule GBC-R Staff Compensation establishes the basic structure for compensation new teachers and teachers transferring from another district.
 
 
 
 
  1. Revision of the following policy:  Policy GCQE Retirement of Professional Staff, First Reading, Policy GDQC Retirement of Support Staff, First Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Policy GCQE Retirement of Professional Staff and Policy GDQC Retirement of Support Staff provide guidance to district employees regarding retirement procedures.
 
  1. Facilities Health and Safety Cleaning Program for the Aiken County Public School District (Dr. Yarborough & Dr. Murphy)
 
The current contract for Facilities Health and Safety Cleaning Program will expire in May 2023.Augusta Janitorial Supplies and Equipment currently supports the District’s Health and Safety Cleaning Program.
 
  1. Revisions to the Code of Student Conduct – First Reading (Dr. Murphy & Ms. Braxton)
 
The Code of Student Conduct is reviewed and updated annually.As part of this process a discipline steering committee consisting of community members, parents, educational leaders, teachers, board members and administrators from all three grade levels reviews the Code of Student Conduct, and considers recommended additions, deletions, and revisions from school administrators.
 
 

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
 
The School Board according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school.Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers In (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that non-resident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation.The Board will nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA admission of resident students. The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”
 
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the district, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
  1. Request to Admit of Foreign Exchange Student (Dr. Minolfo)
 
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of the exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County.
 
  1. Battelle Savannah River Alliance, LLC Donation to Greendale Elementary School – FY23 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Greendale Elementary School has been given a $5,000.00 donation to support the development of a STEM lab for students.These funds will be used to purchase equipment, materials and supplies for the STEM Lab such as: a 3D printer and filament supplies, 3-Doodle pens, microscopes and Geomag kits, etc.
 
  1. Anonymous Donation to Millbrook Elementary, Kennedy Middle and South Aiken High School – FY23 (Dr. Edwards)
 
An anonymous benefactor has donated $15,000.00 to support students at Millbrook Elementary, Kennedy Middle, and South Aiken High Schools.The donor has requested that $5,000 of the funds are to be utilized by the District’s Special Programs Department in collaboration with eh school principals to benefit students with special needs at Millbrook Elementary and Kennedy Middle Scholl in the amounts of $2000.00 and $3000.00 respectively.The remaining $10,000.00 will be used to benefit the volleyball program at South Aiken High School as determined by the coaches.
 
 
  1. Caroline McKie Memorial Scholarship Fund Donation to Aiken High School – FY23 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Aiken High School has been given a $4,000.00 donation through the Caroline McKie Memorial Scholarship Fund.The funds will be used to provide scholarship awards to graduating seniors.
 
  1. Funding Flexibility for the Quarter and Year Ending June 30, 2023 (Mr. Traxler)
 
Under proviso 1.22, 1.29 and 1A.14 for Fiscal Year 2022-2023, all school districts and special schools of this State may transfer and expend funds “to ensure the delivery of academic and arts instruction to students.”  Flexibility guidelines require that each district’s board and superintendent certify the specific flexibility actions taken.  The certification must be in writing, signed by the board chairman and superintendent, and delivered electronically to the State Superintendent of Education.  The SC Department of Education will subsequently forward the information to various legislators and legislative bodies.  The certification must be posted on the district’s website.
 
  1. Items to be Declared Electronic Surplus and Method of Disposal (Mr. Traxler)
 
Electronic equipment has been deemed obsolete and no longer of use to the District.Board approval is required for the disposal of any screened surplus items in accordance with the ACPSD Procurement Code Article 15 Supply Management Section 3810 and 3820.

  1. Construction Status Report for the Aiken High Auditorium School Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Report for the Hammond Hill Elementary School Additions and Renovations Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, Cheatham Fletcher Scott (CFS) and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Report for the Highland Springs Middle School Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Report for the Wagener Salley High School New Construction Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith, and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
