  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department, and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Consideration of District Procurement Code Updates (Mr. Traxler)
 
The State issued its Model Procurement Code revision in September 2021.School districts subject to the Code must review their procurement codes accordingly.
 
  1. District Strategic Plan 2023-2028 (Mr. Laurence & Dr. Minolfo)
 
Each school district must develop a five-year district strategic plan and each school must develop a five-year school renewal plan as required by the Early Childhood Development and Academic Assistance Act of 1993 and the Education Accountability Act of 1998.District and school plans shall coordinate and align improvement initiatives [State Board Regulation 43-261].
 
 
  1. Modified Calendar for the 2022-23 School Year (Mr. Laurence)
 
Many school districts in South Carolina and around the nation have modified their calendars or are in the process of modifying them. While making changes to the traditional calendar has been discussed for decades, it has been given more serious attention in recent years. The most common version shifts some weeks of summer break to other parts of the year creating additional breaks in the fall and spring. Students continue to attend school 180 days with teacher contracts remaining 190 days.
 
 

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
 
The School Board according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school.Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
 
 
 
 
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfer In (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that non-resident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation.The Board will hold nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA, admission of resident students.The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”
 
 
  1. Public Education Partners (PEP) of Aiken County Grant Awards to the Aiken County Public School District – FY22 (Mrs. Glover)
 
The Aiken County Public School District has been given a $3,831.34 in grant awards from the Public Education Partners (PEP) of Aiken County.The funds received will be used to fund seven teacher grant awards.After evaluation all of the grant applications submitted to PEP, seven projects were selected to receive awards.These grants awards, total $3,831.34 with $2,634.34 of them related to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math).The funds are to be used by the awardee teachers to carry out the projects for which they requested a grant.

A3 Communications is the company that obtains and installs the Audio Enhancement systems.They are currently procured under state contract to provide AV products and services.Audio Enhancements is a fully integrated intercom, bell/public address system mass notification, emergency alert, classroom audio/camera and lesson capture solution.It also has the ability to integrate into any IP bases, open platform access control and security camera system.
