A. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: The following items are for information only and do not require Board action.
1. Middle School STEM/STEAM Update (Mrs. Shealy)
2. Facilities Construction Department Quarterly Change Order Notification (Mr. Caver)
Policy FGG sets the limit of approval for construction change orders by the Superintendent or designee up to $15,000.00. The policy requires a summary of such change orders to be presented to the Board at least once a quarter for notification.
3. Financial Report, as of January 31, 2015 (Mr. Traxler)
The financial report of January 31, 2015 is submitted in the approved format.

5. Legislative Update (Mr. Liner)
B. CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group. Individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
1. Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Everitt)
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws of South Carolina Sections 59-63-240, is authorizes to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
2. Change Order Number 12 for the 2013 Chukker Creek Elementary Paving Project (Mr. Caver)
Change Order Number 12 for the 2013 Chukker Creek Elementary Paving Project in the total amount of $36,015.00.
3. 2015 Installation of Flooring @ South Aiken High. East Aiken Elementary, Millbrook Elementary, Belvedere Elementary & Chukker Creek Elementary (Hallways & New Building) (Mr. Caver)
Bids were received on March 3, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened for the 2015 Flooring @ South Aiken High, East Aiken Elementary, Millbrook Elementary, Belvedere Elementary & Chukker Creek Elementary (Hallways & New Building). There were 4 bidders for this project with the lowest responsible and responsive bidders being Bonitz Flooring of Augusta, GA. and Ceiling & Floor Restorations, Inc. of Fairfax, VA: Base Bid A ($60,000.00) for Millbrook Elementary; Base Bid A ($78,000.00) for South Aiken High; Base Bid A ($9,222.00) for Chukker Creek Elementary; Base Bid a ($83,845.00) for East Aiken Elementary; Base Bid A ($148,083.00) for Belvedere Elementary. The Five-Year Facility Improvement Plan for 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 has the funds needed to complete these projects. Total contract amount is $379,150.00.
4. HVAC Renovation Project at Aiken Elementary, North Augusta Elementary and Replace Chiller Plant at Redcliffe (Mr. Caver)
Bids were received for Aiken County Public Schools, HVAC Renovation Project at Aiken Elementary, North Augusta Elementary and Redcliffe Elementary on April 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened. Bids were received from 3 contractors with Gold Mech, Inc. submitting the lowest base bid. The base bid project A is for Aiken Elementary ($2,328,238.00). The base bid project B is for North Augusta Elementary ($2,178,150.00). Project A and B includes HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems and general construction work for approximately 25,000 SF. We will wait for the replacement of a cooling tower and heat exchanger at Redcliffe Elementary at this time. The design, printing, advertising and contingency amounts to $450,000.00. Total project budget needed is $4,956,388.00. The Five Year Facility Improvement Plan for year 2015-2016 and year 2016-2017 has the funds needed to complete these projects at Aiken Elementary and North Augusta Elementary Schools.
5. Construction Bids for the 2015 Scrubbing & Recoating of Gymnasium Floors District Wide for Aiken County Public Schools (Mr. Caver)
Bids were received for the 2015 Scrubbing & Recoating of Gymnasium Floors District Wide on April 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened. There were 2 bidders with Royalwood Associates, Inc. submitting the lowest responsible and responsive bid in the amount of $13,937.00 for Base Bid A and the amount of $11,809.00 for Base Bid B. Total project cost would be $25,746.00. The Five Year Facility Improvement Plan for 2015-2016 has the funds needed to complete these projects.
6. The Removal and Disposal of Asbestos Containing Floor Tile and Mastic at Belvedere Elementary, Millbrook Elementary and South Aiken High (Mr. Caver)
Bids were received on April 14, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. and publicly opened for the Removal and Disposal of Asbestos Containing Floor Tile and Mastic at Belvedere Elementary, Millbrook Elementary and South Aiken High Project. There were 5 bidders with the lowest bid being submitted by Asbestos & Demolition, Inc. in the amount of $59,590.00 for Millbrook Elementary. The lowest bid being submitted by Chaplin and Sons Clearing and Demolition, Inc. for Belvedere Elementary in the amount of $79,529.00. These projects will be funded through the Five Year Facility Improvement Plan asbestos account.
7. Donation from Tractor Supply Company (Mr. Caver)
Tractor Supply Company had tools and equipment they wished to donate.
8. Request for Donation of Two Surplus Mobile Units from Hollywood Baptist Church (Mr. Caver)
Hollywood Baptist Church is requesting two mobile classrooms be donated to them for use as Sunday School classrooms.
The District does have several mobile classrooms that have been taken out of service and are scheduled to be surplused and sold at Public Auction. Church leaders have viewed these units located at Ridge Spring Elementary School.
9. Textbooks adoptions for 2015-2016 (Dr. Stowe)
The District examines and evaluates textbooks adopted by the State for used in the classroom and recommends to the School Board those selected by the teacher committees for our district. Upon approval by the School Board and funding by the State, schools may proceed to order those textbooks from the State Book Depository.
1. Personnel Appointments (Dr. Hewett)
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Personnel Services Department and interviewed and approved by the Principal and Academic Officers.
2. District Strategic Plan Update (Mr. Laurence)
Each school district must develop a five-year district strategic plan, and each school must develop a five-year school renewal plan as required by the Early Childhood Development and Academic Assistance Act of 1993 and the Education Accountability Act of 1998. District and school plans shall coordinate and align improvement initiatives [State Board Regulation 43-261]. As part of a continuous improvement process, each district is required to submit an update to its strategic plan every spring.
