A. INDIVIDUAL ITEMS
- Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
- Policy JICJ Paging Devices, Cell Phones, and Other Personal Electronic Devices, Second Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
Recently South Carolina Budget Proviso1.103 was approved which prohibits student access to personal electronic communications devices during the school day. The proviso defines a personal electronic communication device as a device not authorized for classroom use by a student utilized to access the Internet, wi-fi, or cellular telephone signals. The Proviso requires the School Board to establish a policy which is consistent with the Policy issued by the State Board of Education regarding this requirement.
- Resolution to Declare the Results of the November 5, 2024, Referendum (Dr. Murphy & Mr. Traxler)
On November 5, 2024, Aiken County voters approved renewal of the 1% Education Capital Improvement Sales & Use and a companion question that would allow for the Issuance of general obligation bonds not to exceed $285 million.
- Make-Up Plan for School Day Lost Due to Hurricane Helene (Mr. Jeffcoat)
B .CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
- Contract Documents Drawings/Budget for the new Aiken County Career and Technology Center Project and GMP #1 (Dr. Yarborough)
The administration, in conjunction with GMC Architecture and H.G. Reynolds, CM at Risk Contractor, developed the construction budget and overall budget for the Aiken County Career and Technology Center.
- 2025 Installation of Flooring at Greendale Elementary and Byrd Elementary Schools (Dr. Yarborough)
Bids were received on November 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened for the 2024 Installation of Flooring at Greendale Elementary and Byrd Elementary.
- Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Murphy)
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section
59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
- Submission of Grant Application by the Division of Human Resources and Administration for the South Carolina School Boards Insurance Trust Risk Control Grant – FY25 (Mrs. Hart)
The Division of Human Resources and Administration would like to submit a grant application for a $52,627.25 South Carolina School Boards Insurance Trust Risk Control Grant. The non-competitive grants program provides funding for the one-time purchase of a product or service that supports a member district’s risk management objectives.
- Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund Donation to Aiken Elementary School – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
Aiken Elementary School has received a $2,000.00 donation from the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund. The funds will be used towards the purchase of breakfast items for Aiken Elementary School’s All Pro Dads monthly meetings.
- Carolina Training Associates, Inc. Donation to Aiken County Career & Technology Center – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
Aiken County Career & Technology Center has received a $2,000.00 donation form Carolina Training associates, Inc. The funds were given as a gift to be used for the Aiken County Career & Technology Center 2024 Christmas Party and staff incentives.
- Items to be Declared Surplus and Method of Disposal (Mr. Traxler)
Miscellaneous school furnishings and equipment have been screened and determined to be obsolete and no longer of use to the district. Board approval is requested for the disposal of these items (ACPSD Procurement Code Article 15 Supply Management Sections 3810 and 3820).
