- Policy GCLE Unencumbered Time, Second Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
In 2023, S.C. Code Section 59-5-63 was enacted, which stated the following “the district will require the principal of each elementary school to provide at least 30 minutes of unencumbered time on each regular school to al full-time teacher, and to require the principal of each elementary, middle and high school to provide at least 30 minutes of encumbered time on each regular school to any full time teacher who is responsible for instructing a special education class for more than 20 percent of the school day with students removed from the general education setting. Recently two provisos were approved that included school nurses and 4K teachers “where practical.”
- Proposed 2025-2026 Budget Calendar (Mr. Traxler)
Board Policy DBG requires that the Aiken County Board of Education adopt a budget calendar by November 1 each year.
- CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
- Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Murphy)
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section 69-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it Is solely empowered to take the final expulsion action.
- Textbook Adoptions for Fall 2024-2025 (Mrs. Dove)
The District examines and evaluate textbooks adopted by the State for use in the classroom and recommends to the School Board those selected by teacher committees for our district. Upon approval by the School Board and funding by the State, schools, may proceed to order those textbooks from the State Textbook Depository.
- Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC Donation to Midland Valley High School – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
Midland Valley High School baseball program has been given a $2,500.00 donation from Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC. The funds will be used for baseball operations, supplies, equipment, maintenance, and uniforms.
- American Chemical Society-Hach High School Chemistry Classroom Grant Award to Midland Valley High School – FY25 (Dr. Edards
Midland Valley High School has been awarded the American Chemical Society-Hach High School Chemistry Classroom Grand Award in the amount of $1,404.00. These funds will be used to purchase educational equipment. Materials and supplies for science classrooms such as meter sticks, graduated cylinders, and digital balances.
- Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) K-12 Catalyst Grant for STEM Education Awards to Aiken County Public School District – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
The Aiken County Public School District has received $25,000.00 in grant awards from Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) made possible through the generosity of Battelle Savannah River Alliance, LLC (BSRA), and the Columbus Foundation. Seven Aiken County Public School District teachers were selected to receive awards.
- GMP #1 for Mossy Creek Elementary Exterior wall repairs (Dr. Yarborough)
Mossy Creek Elementary is having problems with moisture wicking through the exterior walls. The plan to repair this issue would involve removal of the exterior brick veneer, waterproofing the walls, replacing the windows, and rebuilding the brick veneer/ The GMP for these repairs is $2,088,644.00.
- Request for Proposals for HVAC Services or plumbing Services for Aiken County Public Schools (Dr. Yarborough)
Request for Proposals for HVAC Services or Plumbing Services were received October 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.

- Facilities Construction Quarterly Change Order Notification (Dr. Yarborough)
Policy FGG sets the limit of approval for construction change orders by the Superintendent or designee up to $15,000.00. The policy requires a summary of such change orders to be presented to the Board at least once a quarter for notification.
