The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
- Request for Proposals – Point of Sale System for Child Nutrition Program (Mr. Traxler)
The Child Nutrition Program is seeking to replace its point of sale (POS) system and recently issued a request for proposals (RFP) from prospective vendors.
- Revisions to the Code of Student Conduct – Second Reading (Ms. Braxton)
The Code of Student Conduct is reviewed and updated annually. As part of this process, a discipline steering committee consisting of community members, parents, educational leaders, teachers, board members, and administrators from all three grade levels reviews the Code of Conduct, and considers recommended additions, deletions, and revisions from school administration.
- Update of Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services Plan (Mrs. Hart)
On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act was signed into law. As part of ARP, the U.S. Department of Education is providing an additional $121.9 billion for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER II Fund). This legislation is awarding grants to state educational agencies, including the SC Department of Education, to provide local educational agencies, including Aiken County Public Schools, with emergency relief funds to address the impact of COVID-19 on elementary and secondary schools across the nation.
- CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
- Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section
59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
- Request to Admit Foreign Exchange Student (Dr. Minolfo)
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of the exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County
- Out-of-District Transfers Requests – Transfers Out 2024-2025 (Dr. Minolfo)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
- Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers In 2024-2025 (Dr. Minolfo)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that nonresident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation. The Board will hold nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA, admission of resident students. The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.
- Awarding High School Credit with Honors Weighting for the acGateway Summer Program – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)
The summer acGateway program offers artistically gifted and talented students with an opportunity to experience rigorous and advanced studies during the summer.
- Submission of the Distinguished Arts Program (DAP) 2024-25 Arts Curricular Innovation Grant (ACIG) Application by East Aiken School of the Arts – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
East Aiken School of the Arts would like to submit a grant application to the SC State Department of Education for the Distinguished Arts Programs (DAP) Arts Curricular Innovation Grant (ACIG) in the amount of $18,000.00. This grant will assist in developing and implementation of arts initiatives that support quality arts education programs and significantly improve student achievement in the arts.
- Submission of SC Arts Commission – Arts in Basic Curriculum Grant Application by East Aiken School of the Arts – FY25
East Aiken School of the Arts would like to submit an application to the SC Arts Commission for the Arts in Basic Curriculum Grant in the amount of $15,000.00. This is year three of a three-year arts grant opportunity to provide a comprehensive and sequential arts education.
- SC Department of Employment & Workforce Donation to Aiken County Career and Technology Center – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)
The Aiken County Career and Technology Center has received a $4,000.00 donation from the SC Department of Employment & Workforce. The funds will be used to purchase materials and supplies for students who attend their CTE Summer Academy and Techno Camps.
- Portable Bleachers at Highland Springs Middle School (Dr. Murphy)
Bids were received for Aiken County Public Schools, for the Portable Bleachers at Highland Springs Middle School on April 17, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened.
- Contract Documents drawings/budget for the North Augusta High Athletic fields Phase 4 from McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and GMP #1 from H.G. Reynolds Company the CM at Risk Contractor. (Dr. Murphy)
The administration in conjunction with the Architect (McMillan Pazdan Smith) has completed the contract documents/budget H.G. Reynolds, Company, Inc. received bids for CM at Risk for North Augusta High Athletic Fields Phase 4 project and GMP #1 from H.G. Reynolds, Company, Inc. the CM at Risk Contractor.

- Facilities Construction Department Quarterly Change Order Notification (Dr. Murphy)
Policy FGG sets the limit of approval for construction change orders by the Superintendent or designee up to $15,000.00. The policy requires a summary of such change orders to be presented to the Board at least once a quarter for notification.
- Construction Status Report for the Wagener-Salley High School New Construction Project (Dr. Murphy)
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith, and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
- Monthly Financial Report for the Period Ended February 29, 2024 (Mr. Traxler)
The Business Services Department submits monthly financials for Board review, consideration, and acceptance.
