  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Re-employment of Certified Personnel for the 2024-2025 School Year (Mrs. Hart)
 
Personnel are employed for a one-year period by the Board of Education. According to state law. Certified personnel must be informed by May 1st of their employment status for the ensuing year, or they will automatically be deemed “re-employed”.

  1. Revision of the following policy:  Policy KCAAA Student Community Relations, Second Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Aiken County Public School District offers the opportunity for blood donation organizations to visit schools to provide eligible students and adults the opportunity to donate blood.
 
  1. District Strategic Plan (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Each school district must develop a five-year district strategic plan, and each school must develop a five-year school renewal plan as required by the Early Childhood Development and Academic Assistance Act of 1993 and the Education Accountability Act of 1998. District and school plans shall coordinate and align improvement initiatives [State Board Regulation 43-261]. As part of a continuous improvement process each district is required to submit an update to its strategic plan every spring.
 
  1. District Early Dismissal Time (Mr. Jeffcoat)
 
With the growing need for professional development, the administration has explored various methods to ensure adequate time is allocated for this purpose. Historically, we have utilized early dismissal days effectively. This scheduling approach designates several days throughout the year to be used exclusively for professional development opportunities for all staff.
 
 
 
 
 
  1. Revisions to the Code of Student Conduct – First Reading (Ms. Braxton)
 
The Code of Student Conduct is reviewed and updated annually. As part of this process, a discipline steering committee consisting of community members, parents, educational leaders, teachers, board members, and administrators from all three grade levels reviews the Code of Conduct, and considers recommended additions, deletions, and revisions from school administration.
 
  1. Selection of Construction Management at Risk (Dr. Murphy)
 
 
  1. Budget Amendment #1 2023-2024 for Funds 1 and 3 (Mr. Traxler)
 
Periodic budget amendments are submitted for Board consideration.
 
 
  1. 2024-2025 Budget – First Reading (Mr. Traxler)
 
In its 2024-2025 budget calendar, the Board scheduled presentations of the First Reading of the budget for April 23, 2024, and the Second & Final Reading for May 28, 2024. A budget hearing is scheduled during the May 14, 2024, Board meeting.
 
 
 
  1. CONSENT ITEMS:   The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
 
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section
 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Request to Admit Foreign Exchange Student (Dr. Minolfo)
 
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of the exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out 2023-2024 (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”

  1. John Deere PLTW Launch Grant Award to Mossy Creek Elementary School – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Mossy Creek Elementary School has received a $10,000.00 Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch Grant Awards from John Deere.
 
  1. Submission of the SC Department of Education (SCDE) Stronger Connection Subgrant Application – Department of Student Services – FY25 (Dr. Murphy & Mr. White)
 
The purpose of the Stronger Connection subgrant program is to provide students with safer and healthier learning environments. Subgrant funds must be used to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive programs within high school need LEAs, and support only activities allowable under section 4107 of the ESEA. The maximum subgrant period is 15 months from July 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025.
 
  1. 2024 Painting of Chukker Creek Elementary School (Dr. Murphy)
 
Bids were received on March 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened for the 2024 Painting of Chukker Creek Elementary School.
