A.INDIVIDUAL ITEMS

Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)

The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.

Revision of the following policy: Policy IKA Grading/Assessment Systems (Dr. Edwards & Dr. Minolfo)

The proposed change in Policy IKA Grading/Assessment Systems is to accommodate a request to further clarify the qualifications for student who selected to represent their graduating class in the role of Valedictorian and Salutatorian.The Proposed change to Administrative Rule IKE-R reflect alignment with the new accountability model for high schools and matches the state criteria for students being considered on track for graduation.

Revision of the following policy: Administrative Rule IKE-R Promotion and Retention of Students (Dr. Edwards & Dr. Minolfo)

The Proposed change to Administrative Rule IKE-R Promotion and Retention of Students reflect alignment with the new accountability model for high schools and matches the state criteria for students being considered on track for graduation.

Proposed 2024-2025 Budget Calendar (Mr. Traxler)

Board Policy DBG requires that the Aiken County Board of Education adopt a budget calendar by November 1 each year.

B.CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)

The School Board according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina, Section 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school.Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.

Publix Donation – Aiken County Public School District – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)

The Aiken County Public School District has received a donation from Publix in the amount $2,861.25.The funds will be used to provide school supplies to students and teachers.

Whole Kids Foundation Grant Award to Kennedy Middle School – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)

Kennedy Middle School has received a $3,000.00 grant award from the Whole Kids Foundation.The funds will be used to purchase equipment, materials and supplies to support their “Lettuce Grow Kennedy Together” butterfly garden and edible garden project where students will learn how to grow fresh produce throughout the seasons. These purchases may include items such as:garden tools, small mower, small tiller, hoses and sprinklers/nozzles, tool shed, curriculum materials/outdoor teaching board, planting materials, plant stand/workbench, and garden signage.

2023 Maintenance Painting at New Ellenton Middle Gym (Dr. Murphy)

Bids were received on August 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened for the 2023 Maintenance Painting at New Ellenton Middle Gym.

Change Order Number 1 for the 2023 Scrubbing and Coating of Gymnasium Floors (Dr. Murphy)

Change Order Number 1 for the 2023 Scrubbing and Coating of Gymnasium Floors from The Flooring Connection, LLC. credit in the amount of <$20,000.00>

Final Construction Status Report for the Hammond Hill Elementary School Additions and Renovations Project (Dr. Murphy)

In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, Cheatham Fletcher Scott (CFS), and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
