  1. Construction Status Reports for the USC-Aiken Scholars Academy Additions Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, Goodwyn Mills and Cawood (GMC), and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.

  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”

Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that non-resident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation.The Board will hold nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA, admission of resident students. The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”

  1. Aiken County Public School District (ACPSD) Head Start/Early Head Start Program Carryover Request:  07/01/2020-10/31/2020|Start Up and Pro-rated Funds (Mrs. Glover)
 
The school district was approved for a five-year Head Start/Early Head Start grant in May of 2020, and the 5-year project period began on July 1, 2020 and extends through June 30, 2025.ACPSD was awarded start-up and pro-rated 07/01/2020-10/31/2020 funding in the amount of $1,635,659.00 to support the start-up and operating expenses associated with the first 4 months of the program.Due to COVID, there were planned activities that were not able to be initiated and/or completed within the original time frame. The program has expended $556,687.85 and has a remaining balance of $1,078,971.15.Grantees may request a carryover of funds that are within the 5-year project period.
 
These carryover funds would be used for the initiation, continuation and or completion of activities such as:installation of fire alarm systems at the Aiken, Monetta, and Barnwell sites; security surveillance systems for all sites; bus/vehicle maintenance and repairs to include but not limited to HVAC replacements at Aiken and Monetta sites, painting of facilities, removal of carpet flooring and replacements at Aiken and Monetta sites, painting of facilities, removal of carpet flooring and replacement with vinyl flooring, installation of awnings, kitchen equipment repairs or replacement; commercial appraisals on Head Start/Early Head Start Facilities to develop non-federal share match amounts based on fair market rental value; and hotspot devices for policy council members and families with limited access to internet.
 
 
  1. Textbook Adoptions for 2020-2021 (Mrs. Glover)
 
The District examines and evaluates textbooks adopted by the State for use in the classroom and recommends to the School Board those selected by teacher committees for our district.Upon approval by the School Board and funding by the State, schools may proceed to order those textbooks from the State Textbook Depositary.

  1. Update Organizational Chart in Policy CCA Organization Chart, First Reading (Mrs. Hart)
 
Policy CCA presents the organizational chart for the district administration beginning with the office of the Superintendent.Policy CC Administrative Organization state that “The chart [Organization Chart] represents the framework for administration and the lines of authority and responsibility.Within the framework established, each school will be encouraged and free to work out the educational program most appropriate for itself.”
 
  1. Revision of Administrative Rules GCC-R (2) (Professional Staff) and GDC-R (2) (Support Staff), COVID-19 Related Leave (Mrs. Hart)
 
Administrative Rules GCC-R (2) (Professional Staff) and GDC-R (2) (Support Staff), COVID-19 Related Leave, approved May 5, 2020, and updated March 23, 2021, established guidelines for implementation of temporary leave requirements under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA).FFCRA has concluded, and on Monday, June 7, 2021, Governor Henry McMaster rescinded the State of Emergency related to COVID-19. Both CDC and SC DHEC are now focused on the promotion of vaccination as a mean to slow the spread.
 
  1. Budget Adjustment #2 2020-2021 for Fund 1 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The Division of Financial services submits periodic adjustments to the approved budget as may be required in the conduct of operations.
