  1. School Counselor Update – Sharon Worley
 
  1. Construction Status Reports for the Belvedere Elementary School Addition & Renovation Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Reports for the Hammond Hill Elementary Additions & Renovations Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, Cheatham Fletcher Scott (CFS), and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Reports for the Millbrook Elementary Additions & Renovations Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, Goodwyn Mills and Cawood (GMC), and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
 
  1. Construction Status Reports for the Ridge Spring-Monetta Elementary Phase 3 Addition Project (Dr. Murphy)
 
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, LS3P Associates LTD., and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.


 

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
 

 
  1. GMP #2 for North Augusta High School Phase III Additions: Demolition of the existing old gym (Dr. Murphy)
 
H.G. Reynolds Company, Inc. received bids for the Phase III Demolition of the existing old gym.The original construction budget approved by the board on September 10, 2019 GMP #1 Phase III budget included this scope of work.The budget needed is $880,546.00 to demolish the existing old gym and install the band practice field and tower to finish this Phase III scope.
 
 
  1. Consideration of Extending FFCRA Provisions through ESSER II Funding (Mr. Traxler)
 
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) went into effect April 1, 2020, and required employers to provide employees with sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19.The FFCRA benefits have maintained pay for a number of employees who were otherwise out of leave options.FFCRA expired December 31, 2020.While there is some expectation the new Federal Administration will extend those benefits, COVID-related employee absences continue in the meanwhile.

  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department, and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests 2020-2021 (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that non-resident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation.The Board will hold nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA, admission of resident students.The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”

  1. Revision of Policy JICJ Paging Devices, Cell Phones, and Other Personal Electronic Devices, First Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Policy JICJ Paging Devices, Cell Phones, and Other Personal Electronic Devices provides the basic structure for students who possess personal telecommunication devices during the school day, but does not specifically identify smartwatches. Smartwatches have many of the same capabilities as smartphones, including the ability to send or receive communication and take pictures and/or videos.
