B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
  1. Construction Bids for Belvedere Elementary Addition & Renovations Project (Dr. Foster)
     
Bids were received for the Construction bids for Belvedere Elementary Addition & Renovations Project on May 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened.Bids were received from 7 vendors with McKnight Construction Co., Inc. submitting the lowest base bid of $10,700,170.00.The original construction budget approved by the board on March 24, 2020 was $13,414,618.00.The soft cost which include design, printing, advertising, furnishings, fixtures, equipment, technology needed is 2.8 million.The owner contingency needed is $486,000.00.The total budget needed is $13,986,170.00 which is $2,714,448.00 under the total budget approved on March 24, 2020 by the board.
 
  1. Items to be declared Surplus and method of disposal (Mr. Traxler)
     
Electronic equipment (E-waste) has been determined obsolete and is no longer of use to the District.Board approval is necessary prior to disposal of the any surplus and/or obsolete items (Procurement Regulations:Surplus Management XXVII, C, 1).
 
  1. Whole Kid Foundation Donation to Ridge Spring-Monetta High School – FY20 (Mrs. Glover)
     
Ridge Spring-Monetta High School was given $3,000.00 donation from Whole Kids Foundation.The funds from this donation will be used to purchase general materials and supplies and instructional materials and supplies.
 
  1. Proposed Schedule of School Board Meetings, 2020-2021 (Mr. Laurence)
     
The School Board has historically scheduled its regular sessions on the second and fourth Tuesday evenings of the month.Executive sessions have been held, as needed, on these same dates.

 

C.INDIVIDUAL ITEMS

 
  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
     
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests (Mrs. Hart)
     
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
  1. Changes to Policy EGAD Copyright Compliance and Administrative Rule EGAD Copyright Compliance, First Reading (Mrs. Hart)
     
Policy EGAD establishes the basic structure for district compliance with federal copyright laws and regulations.
 
  1. Adoption of Policy IMG Service Animals and Administrative Rule IMG Service Animals, First Reading (Mrs. Hart)
     
Title II of the ADA (28 CFR Part 35) requires school districts and other public entities to make reasonable modifications in policies, practices, or procedures to allow service animals when necessary in order to avoid discrimination on the basis of disability. Section 504, which incorporates the protections afforded by the ADA, applies to entities that receive federal funds, which it defines as any state or its political subdivisions, any instrumentality of a state or its political subdivision, any public or private agency, institution, organization, or other entity, or any person to which Federal financial assistance is extended.
 
  1. Revisions to the Code of Student Conduct – Final Reading (Dr. Foster)
     
The Code of Student Conduct is reviewed and updated annually. As part of this process, a discipline steering committee consisting of community members, parents, educational leaders, teachers, board members, and administrators from all three grade levels reviews the Code of Student Conduct, and considers recommended additions, deletions, and revisions from school administration.Recommendations include the provision of clear guidance for school administrators in addressing student incidents with the intent of increasing consistency and appropriateness throughout the District.
