A. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: The following items are for information only and do not require Board action.
1. Legislative Update (Mr. Liner)
B. CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group. Individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
1. Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Alford)
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws of South Carolina Section 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
2. Request to Admit Foreign Exchange Student (Dr. Stowe)
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County.
3. Proposed Change to the 2015-2016 School Calendar (Dr. Foster)
The administration prepares a new calendar each year for Board approval. Policy ICA provides guidance in the development of the school calendar and was last revised on March 9, 2004. The 2015-2016 School Calendar was approved by the Board on December 8, 2014.
4. Design Development Drawings/Budget for the New Leavelle McCampbell Middle School Project (Dr. Foster)
The administration in conjunction with the Architect has completed the Design Development Plans and Budget for the New Leavelle McCampbell Middle School Project and will present to Aiken County Board of Education for final approval. The project budget is $29,659,402.00. The project team is still reviewing cost scope changes where applicable. A detailed cost estimate and a project budget summary will be provided by McMillan, Pazdan, Smith Architecture at the board meeting.
5. Design Development Drawings/Budget for the North Augusta High School Project (Dr. Foster)
The administration in conjunction with the Architect has completed the Design Development Plans and Budget for the North Augusta High School Project and will present to Aiken County Board of Education for final approval. The project budget for 2A & 2B construction is $52,760,123.00. The project team is still reviewing cost scope changes where applicable. A detailed cost estimate and a project budget summary will be provided by McMillan, Pazdan, Smith Architecture at the board meeting.
C. INDIVIDUAL ITEMS:
1. Personnel Appointments (Dr. Hewett)
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Personnel Services Department and interviewed and approved by the Principal and Academic Officers.
2. Amendments to Policy GCD – Professional Staff Vacation and Holidays – First Reading (Mr. Traxler and Dr. Hewett)
The current Policy GCD allows twelve months professional staff to earn vacation days at one of two rats, based upon years of serving in the District, and to accrue vacation leave without limits. Upon separation of employment, those employees receive pay, at daily rates, for any unused vacation days.
3. Amendments to Policy GDD – Support Staff Vacations and Holidays – First Reading (Mr. Traxler and Dr. Hewett)
The current Policy GD allows twelve month support staff to earn vacation days at one of two rates, based upon years of service in the District, and to accrue vacation leave without limits. Upon separation of employment, those employees receive pay, at daily rates, for any unused vacation days.
4. Amendments to Policy CFA – School Principals/Building Administrators – First Reading (Dr. Foster)
Purpose of Policy CFA is to establish the basic structure for the administrative operation of the schools.
5. Amendments to Policy ECB – Building and Grounds Maintenance – First Reading (Dr. Foster)
Purpose of Policy ECB is to establish the basic structure for the administrative operation of the schools.
