A. INDIVIDUAL ITEMS
- Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
- Resolution to Approve Issuance and Sale of General Obligation Bonds Not Exceeding $285,000,000 as Result of 2024 Sales Tax Renewal (Mr. Traxler)
Voters renewed the 1% Education Capital Improvements Sales & Use Tax on November 5, 2024. The companion ballot question allowed for the issuance of general obligation bonds (GOBs) not exceeding $285,000,000.
B. CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
- Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Murphy)
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section
59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it is solely empowered to take the final expulsion action.
- Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out 2025-2026 (Dr. Minolfo)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
- Request to Admit Foreign Exchange Student (Dr, Minolfo)
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of the exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County.
- Change Order #1 for the Wagener-Salley High School Early Site Work Guaranteed Maximum Price #1 (Dr. Yarborough)
The Shared Savings Credit for Guaranteed Maximum Price #1 related to the Wagener-Salley High School Early Site Work package accounts to $248,160.97.
- Change (CO) to Guaranteed Maximum Price GMP #1 for Football field turf installation at Aiken High, Midland Valley High, and Silver Bluff High Schools. This CO is adding field turf to Ridge Spring-Monetta High School (RSMHS) football field. (Dr. Yarborough)
Theis CO will replace the existing grass field with new artificial turf, including all clearing, grading/earthwork, water lines, erosion control, concrete, stone base at RSMHS. The CO estimate to replace the existing grass field at RSMHS is $1,753,174.00. The funding for RSMHS CO would come from the original 1% sales tax fund.
C. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: The following items are for information only and do not require Board Action.
- Facilities Construction Department Quarterly Change Order Notification (Dr. Yarborough)
Policy FGG sets the limit of approval for construction change orders by the Superintendent or designee up to $15,000.00/ The policy requires a summary of such change orders to be presented to the Board at least once a quarter for notification.
