Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)

The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.

Policy ECAF Video Monitoring, Second Reading (Dr. Minolfo)

The District’s use of video and audio-visual cameras has increased in recent years for security purposes as well as academic and professional reasons. As a result, the District recommends to the Board the adoption of Policy ECAF Video Monitoring, which details the purpose and use of video and audio-visual cameras in schools.

CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Murphy)

The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section 69-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it Is solely empowered to take the final expulsion action.

Booster Enterprises, Inc. Donation to New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School (Dr. Edwards)

Booster Enterprises, Inc. has donated $2,664.00 to the New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School’s Athletic Department for the purchase of athletic equipment, supplies and uniforms.

Leadership Aiken County Donation to Aiken County Career and Technology Center – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)

The Aiken County Career and Technology Center has received a $5,800.00 donation from Leadership Aiken County. The funds will be used to provide scholarships to students to assist with fees/tuition for CTE courses for the 2024-2025 school year.

Submission of the SC Department of Education (SCDE) School Safety Priority Funds Grant Application – Aiken County Public School District – FY25 (Dr. Yarborough)

South Carolina Proviso 1.78 of the FY 2024-2025 Appropriations Act authorizes the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) to distribute up to $20,000,000 to public school districts and charter school districts to make upgrades aligned with school safety priorities. The Division of Operations and Student Services is requesting approval to submit a grant application for the SCDE School Safety Priority Funds for $250,000.00. The funds will be used to build/install security vestibules to East Aiken School of the Arts ($130,000.00) and Oakwood-Windsor Elementary School ($120,000.00).
