A.INDIVIDUAL ITEMS
- Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
- Request for Proposals – Financial and Procurement Audit Services (Mr. Traxler)
In accordance with State law and Board Policy DIE Audits/Financial Monitoring, an audit of District financials is performed annually. The District recently concluded its multi-year engagement of financial and procurement audit services with Elliott Davis, LLC. A request for proposals was issued on January 12, 2024, to seek the District’s next auditor. The deadline for submission of proposals was February 12, 2024.
B.CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
- Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section
59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
- Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers Out 2024-2025 (Dr. Minolfo)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition in the receiving district.”
- Out-of-District Transfer Requests – Transfers In 2023-2024 (Dr. Minolfo)
Board Policy JFAB allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that nonresident students transfer into the District “the parent/legal guardian must assume responsibility for transportation. The Board will hold nonresident students to the behavioral and academic requirements set out in policy JFAA admission of resident students. The district may charge tuition to nonresident students seeking to enroll in district schools.”

- Public Education Partners (PEP) of Aiken County Grant Awards to the Aiken County Public School District – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)
The Aiken County Public School District has been given a $5,517.65 in grant awards from the Public Education Partners (PEP) of Aiken County. The funds received will be used to fund 12 teacher grant awards.
- Merrick & Company Donation to Aiken High School – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)
Aiken High School has been given a $3,000.00 donation from Merrick & Company. The funds are designated to support the school’s Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Pre-Engineering program. The funds may be used for, but are not limited to, the purchase of equipment, materials, furniture, technology and/or software based on program needs.
