The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Revision of the following policy:  Policy IKA Grading/Assessment Systems - Second Reading (Dr. Edwards & Dr. Minolfo)
 
The proposed change in Policy IKA Grading/Assessment Systems is to accommodate a request to further clarify the qualifications for student who selected to represent their graduating class in the role of Valedictorian and Salutatorian.The Proposed change to Administrative Rule IKE-R reflect alignment with the new accountability model for high schools and matches the state criteria for students being considered on track for graduation.
 
  1. Adoption of the following policy, administrative rule and files:

Administrative Rule JFABC Admission of Homeless Students

The Office of Elementary and Secondary Education in the Department of Education issues guidelines for States related to requirements under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (McKinney-Vento Act), as amend by Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
 
  1. Modified Academic Calendar for the 2024-2025 School Year (Mr. Jeffcoat)
 
The landscape of academic calendars has been evolving, not only in South Carolina but across the nation, with many school districts implementing or exploring modifications.
 
  1. Proposed Incentive to Address Bus Driver Shortage in Area Four (Mr. Traxler)
 
The District continues to deal with a critical bus driver shortage in Area Four which results in some consistent late morning arrivals and evening drop-offs.While bus driver shortages impact all areas of the District, Area Four’s shortage, and specifically in the Wagener area, is the most severe.
 
 
 

B.CONSENT ITEMS:  The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.

 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
 
The School Board according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina, Section 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school.Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Herlong Chevrolet Donation to Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle High School – FY24 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle High School has received a donation from Herlong Chevrolet in the amount of $2,500.00 for the Athletic Department.The funds will be used to purchase athletic equipment, uniforms and/or supplies for the football and track/cross country teams.
