  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Mr. Laurence)
 
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school.Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Items Declared Surplus and Method of Disposal (Mr. Traxler)
 
Miscellaneous furnishings and equipment have been screened and determined to be obsolete and no longer of use to the District.Board approval is necessary for the disposal of these items (Procurement Regulations:Surplus Management XXVII, C, 1).
 
  1. Mr. Thomas Ford Donation to the Aiken High School – FY21 (Mrs. Glover)
 
Aiken High School has been given a $1,200.00 donation from Mr. Thomas Ford to support the Aiken High School Academic Team.  The academic team represents Aiken High School by competing in interscholastic academic quiz bowl competitions around the state and region.  Most of the funds will be used to pay entry or registration fees to those events. The remainder will be used to purchase practice questions, student materials, and team shirts.
 
  1. Dr. Randy Cooper and Donah Cooper Donation to the North Augusta High School – FY21 (Mrs. Glover)
 
The North Augusta High School has been given a $2,000.00 donation from Dr. Randy Cooper and Donah Cooper.The funds from this donation will be used for football uniforms and the Hall of Fame display.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
  1. Submission of the South Carolina Arts Commission – Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Grant Application – New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet – FY22 (Mrs. Glover)
 
New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School would like to submit an application to the South Carolina Arts Commission – Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Grant.The maximum grant award is between $10,000-$15,000.The purpose of the 2021-2022 Arts in Basic Curriculum (ABC) Grant is to assist schools and districts in developing and implementing arts initiatives that support quality arts education programs that significantly improve student achievement in the arts.The South Carolina Arts Commission grants provide funds for one-year projects.Successful ABC proposals must indicate in the strategic arts plan that the applicant will include all arts forms – dance, music, theatre, and visual arts –over a one-year period of the strategic arts plan.If awarded the funds will be used for artist-in-residencies, professional development, arts-based field trips, instructional supplies, and equipment maintenance for each course.

  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department, and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Suspension of portions of Policy IKE-R for the 2020-2021 School Year (Mrs. Glover)
 
Board Policy IKE-R establishes structure for promotion and retention of students.
 
Middle school students under IKE-R are retained if they do not pass all four core subjects: English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.Prior to 2016, students were promoted it they passed ELA and math and either science or social studies.In 2016, policy IKE-R was amended, requiring students to pass all four core subjects. Additionally, students who failed more than two core subjects were not offered the opportunity to participate in summer academic programs for content recovery.
