- CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group. Individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
1. Scholarship from South Carolina HOSA to Ridge Spring-Monetta High School – FY18 (Dr. Washington)
Ridge Spring-Monetta High School has been given a $2,000 scholarship from SC HOSA INC, a non-profit, student-led organization of Future Health Professionals. These funds will be designated to pay for the HOSA International Leadership Conference per the scholarship requirements.
2. Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Grant to North Augusta Middle School – FY18 (Dr. Washington)
North Augusta Middle School was given a $5,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant. Funds from this grant award will be used to purchase new picnic tables, benches, and landscaping for the school courtyard.
3. Construction Document Presentation and Budget for the Ridge Spring High School Addition Phase II Project (Dr. Foster)
The architects, LS3P for this project have completed the final working drawings for construction of the Ridge Spring High School Addition Phase II Project and are prepared to present these final plans and construction budget under separate cover to the Board for approval.
4. Surplus Technology Items (Dr. Foster)
The district periodically surpluses obsolete technology equipment. We have proposals from three reputable companies that are offering credit for our no longer needed appliances. This credit can be applied toward equipment, parts, and accessories that fit our existing network and technology needs. The highest bid was $26,650.00.
5. South Carolina School Boards Association Dues (Dr. Alford)
Over the past years, the Aiken County Board of Education has purchased membership in the South Carolina School Boards Association. In addition to membership benefits, the Association provides a policy update service and legal assistance fund. Also included is an annual policy maintenance and Internet subscription fee.

1. Personnel Appointments (Ms. Hart)
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed and approved by the Principals and Executive Directors.
2. Out-of-District Transfer Requests (Mr. Laurence)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with the other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, ‘the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
