Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle School Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on October 23, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.
A. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: The following items are for information only and do not require Board action.
1. Curriculum and Assessment Update (Mr. Laurence)
2. Facilities Construction Department Quarterly Change Order Notification (Mr. Caver)
Policy FGG sets the limit of approval for construction change orders by the Superintendent or designee up to $15,000.00. The policy requires a summary of such change orders to be presented to the Board at least once a quarter for notification.

B. CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group. Individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
1. Out-of-District Transfer Requests (Dr. Stowe)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
2. Request to Admit Foreign Exchange Student (Dr. Stowe)
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of the exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County.
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws of South Carolina, Section 59-65-40, is authorizes to approve home schooling for parents not opting for approval by the South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools. The program has to meet certain standards as outlined in the bill, Policy IEK and IEK-R.
4. South Carolina Department of Education’s Arts Curricular Innovation Grant for Midland Valley High School – FY15 (Mr. Laurence)
Midland Valley High School was awarded an Arts Curricular Innovation grant in the amount of $3,300. These funds will be used to purchase a camera, camera lens, and art supplies.
5. Warrenville Elementary’s Title I Distinguished School Nominee Grant (Mr. Laurence)
The State Department of Education has awarded Warrenville Elementary School a $5,000 grant for being named a nominee for the Title I Distinguished Schools Reward for Progress award during the 2013-2014 school year. These funds are to be used to attend the 2014 South Carolina Association of Title I Administrators’ Conference.
6. Dollar General Literacy Foundation Youth Literacy Grants to Busbee-Corbett Elementary/Middle School – FY15 (Mr. Laurence)
7. Transportation Guideline (Mr. Hightower)
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Personnel Services Department and interviewed and approved by the Principal and the Academic Officers.
