A. INDIVIDUAL ITEMS
- Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
- Results from Annual Financial Audit for the Fiscal Year Ended June 30, 2024 (Mr. Traxler)
State law requires school districts audited financial statement to be submitted to the South Carolina Department of Education by December 1 each year.
- Additional Allocations for Multi-Lingual Learners Teachers (Mrs. Hart)
Aiken County Public School District plans tp increase services provided to our multilingual (MLL) students.
B. CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
- Schematic Plans for the Belvedere Elementary Food Service and Multi -Purpose Room Project (Dr. Yarborough)
The administration has completed the scope for the Food Service and Multi-Purpose Room Project for Belvedere Elementary. The architectural firm of Cheatham, Fletcher, Scott (CFS) has utilized this scope to produce schematic design plans for this school.
- Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Murphy)
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section
59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it is solely empowered to take the final expulsion action.
- Out-of-District Transfer Requests (Dr. Minolfo)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
- Request to Admit Foreign Exchange Student (Dr. Minolfo)
School Board Policy JFABB establishes guidelines for the admission of the exchange students to the high schools in the School District of Aiken County.
- Fidelity Charitable Donor-Advised Fund Grant Award to North Augusta High School Choir – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
North Augusta High School Choir Program has been awarded a $3,000.00 Fidelity Charitable Donor – Advised Fund Grant. These funds will be used to provide for student travel for performances such as student travel to the SC Choral Performance Assessment and performances of area choral ensembles. Funds may also be used for instrument maintenance, such as classroom and campus pianos to ensure they are in the best possible condition.
- Booster Enterprises, Inc. Donation to New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet (Dr. Edwards)
Booster Enterprises, Inc. has donated $1,440.00 to the New Ellenton Middle STEAM Magnet School basketball program for the purchase of athletic equipment supplies and uniforms.
- Central Carolina Community Foundation Grant Donation for the Midland Valley Area Elementary School Libraries – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
The Central Carolina Community Foundation has awarded a grant in the amount of $6,000.00 to be distributed equally to the six Midland Valley Area elementary schools and are to be used to purchase books for the schools’ libraries.
- GMP #1 Aiken High School Football Bleachers and Press Box (Dr. Yarborough)
Replacement of the existing Aiken High School Football Bleachers and Press Box. This project includes installing new bleachers, home side and away, removal of old bleachers, grading/earthwork, erosion control, concrete sidewalks ADA ramps and fifty-seven stone ground cover under bleachers. The GMP for this project is $2,653,781. The funding for Aiken High School football Bleachers and Press Box would come from the original 1% sales tax funds.
- Aiken High School Football Stadium Visitor’s Restrooms (Dr. Yarborough)
Bids were received for the Aiken High School Football Stadium Visitor’s Restrooms on December 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened.
- 2025 Painting of Schofield Middle School and Exterior of Gloverville Elementary School (Dr. Yarborough)
Bids were received on December 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened for the 2025 Painting of Schofield Middle School and Exterior of Gloverville Elementary School.
- Portable Bleachers at Wagener-Salley High School (Dr. Yarborough)
Bids were received for Aiken County Public Schools, for the portable bleachers at Wagener-Salley High School on December 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened.
C. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: The following items are for information only and do not require Board Action.
- Construction Status Report for the North Augusta High Athletic Fields Phase 4 Project (Dr. Yarborough)
In an effort to keep the Board current on the status and budget of this school construction project, the Architects for this project, McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture and the Administration prepare a monthly status report for the Board’s review.
