  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)
 
The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or Supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Policy GCLE Unencumbered Time, First Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
 
In 2023, S.C. Code Section 59-5-63 was enacted, which stated the following “the district will require the principal of each elementary school to provide at least 30 minutes of unencumbered time on each regular school to al full-time teacher, and to require the principal of each elementary, middle and high school to provide at least 30 minutes of encumbered time on each regular school to any full time teacher who is responsible for instructing a special education class for more than 20 percent of the school day with students removed from the general  education setting. Recently two provisos were approved that included school nurses and 4K teachers “where practical.”
 
  1. CONSENT ITEMS:   The following items will be voted on as a group, individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
 
  1. Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Murphy)
 
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Section 69-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it Is solely empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  1. Out-of-District Transfers Requests – Transfers Out 2024-2025 (Dr. Minolfo)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
  1. Aileen S. Andrew Foundation Donation to North Aiken Elementary School – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
 
North Aiken Elementary School has been given a $3,000.00 donation through the Aileen S. Andrew Foundation. Funds in the amount of $1,500.00 have designation to support the development of a Show Choir program and the remaining $1,500.00 is to be used to support the Behavior Enrichment program.
 
 
 
 
 
  1. Dollar General Literacy Foundation Youth Literacy Grant Award to Byrd Elementary School – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
 
Byrd Elementary School has received a Youth Literacy Grant Award in the amount of $3,000.00 from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. These funds will be used to purchase six sets of books from the SC Children’s Book Award List. These books will be used in conjunction with our District’s Battle of the Books Competition.
 
  1. Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC Donation to the Center for Innovative Learning (CiL) – FY25 (Dr. Edwards)
 
The Center for Innovative Learning (CIL) has received a donation in the amount of $20,833.36 from the Savannah Rive Nuclear Solutions, LLC. These funds will be used to purchase 30 Dell Latitude 3140 2-in-1 Laptop computers and a 32-station laptop cart for the mathematics department at CIL to support and enrich mathematics instruction through the use of interactive software programs.
 
  1. Modular Classrooms Units at Byrd Elementary (Dr. Yarbrough)
 
Bids were received for the Modular Classroom Units at Byrd Elementary on September 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. and opened.
 
 
  1. Request for Proposals for Plumbing Services for Aiken County Public Schools (Dr. Yarborough)
 
Request for Proposals for Plumbing Services was received September 11, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
 
  1. Change Order #1 for North Augusta High Athletic Fields Phase 4, road widening at Knobcone Avenue (Dr. Yarborough)
 
Change Order #1 for North Augusta High Athletic Fields Phase 4 for ACPS is submitted for your review and approval. South Carolins Department of Transportation added roadway widening requirement after the GMP was approved. Total Change Order #1 amount is $437,241.000.
