  1. Academy Sports Physical Education Equipment Donation – FY21 (Mrs. Glover)
 
Academy Sports has donated miscellaneous Physical Education equipment and a $500.00 Academy Sports gift card to five schools.The schools receiving the Physical Education equipment and gift card donation include:
 
  • Aiken Intermediate School
  • Byrd Elementary School
  • Leavelle McCampbell Middle School
  • Ridge Spring-Monetta Middle School
  • Wagener-Salley High School
 
  1. The South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant Award for Aiken Elementary School – FY21 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department was awarded $9,600.00 for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for Aiken Elementary School.The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a Robo Coupe (food processor) and a warmer for the cafeteria.
 
  1. The South Carolina Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant Award for Belvedere Elementary School – FY21 (Mr. Traxler)
 
The School Food Service Department was awarded $8,500.00 for SCDE’s National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant for Belvedere Elementary School.The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a 3-door cooler and an icemaker for the cafeteria.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
  1. Textbook Adoption for the Career and Technology Education (CATE) Course Welding (Dr. Minolfo)
 
The District examines and evaluates textbooks adopted by the State for use in the classroom and recommends to the School Board those selected by teacher committees for our district, when appropriate.Upon approval by the School Board and funding by the State, schools may proceed to order those textbooks from the State Textbook Depository.
 
 

C.INDIVIDUAL ITEMS:

 
  1. Personnel Appointments (Mrs. Hart)

The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department, and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
 
  1. Request for approval for Home Instruction (Dr. Murphy & Mr. White)
 
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina, Section 59-65-40, is authorized to approve home schooling for parents not opting for approval by the South Carolina Association of Independent Home Schools.The program has to meet certain standards as outlined in the bill.Policy IEK and IEK-R.
 
  1. Legal Services (Mr. Laurence)
 
In 2017, the School Board tasked the District’s Salary Committee with making a recommendation whether to hire an in-house attorney as replacement for the retiring School Board Attorney or use external legal services.On April 17, 2018, the board approved a contract for legal services with Halligan Mahoney & Williams.
 
The School Board requested that administration report to the salary committee on the quality and efficiency of the district’s relationship with Halligan Mahoney & Williams after six months.On May 14, 2019 the board approved the continuation of the arrangement with the firm.
