The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Human Resources Department, and interviewed, and/or approved by the Principal or supervisor for each location.
- Out-of-District Transfer Requests (Dr. Minolfo)
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students.The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
- Addition of Temporary Policy ADD Face Covering, Second Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
In alignment with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations, the State Department of Education released the South Carolina Department of Education Face Covering Guidelines for K12 Public Schools intended to reduce the spread of the pandemic (COVID-19), recommending that a face covering be worn in public settings when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.The district will consider the circumstances in the community and consult local health officials for the implementation of this policy.
- Addition of Policy GBGAA Accommodation for Breastfeeding Mothers, First Reading (Dr. Minolfo)
South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster signed into law the South Carolina Lactation Support Act on June 25, 2020.This law intends to “promote health and to support those who wish to express breast milk at work by requiring employers to make reasonable efforts to provide workers with reasonable unpaid break time and space to express milk at work.”Additionally, the law states “Providing workers reasonable support to express milk on the job is crucial health measure and will benefit South Carolina’s economy by keeping nursing employees in the workforce.”
- Addition of new temporary Administrative Rule JE-R Student Attendance (Dr. Minolfo)
State law requires all children of compulsory attendance age to regularly attend school.Regular attendance is necessary if students are to make the desired and expected academic progress.Therefore, administration must implement procedures to ensure student attendance is maintained during the pandemic (COVID-19), ensuring that absences are recorded, and truancy is reported in accordance with policy JH, Student Absences and Excuses.
