B.                 CONSENT ITEMS: The following items will be voted on as a group. Individual items may be discussed prior to a vote being taken.
 
 
1.                  Ratification of Expulsions (Dr. Everitt)
 
The School Board, according to the Code of Laws for South Carolina Sections 59-63-240, is authorized to expel students from school. Although the Board may receive recommendations for expulsion from others, it solely is empowered to take the final expulsion action.
 
  
2.                  Out-of-District Transfer Requests (Dr. Stowe)
 
Board Policy JFABC allows the Aiken County Board of Education to arrange with other school districts for the interchange of students. The policy stipulates that when students transfer out of the District, “the School District of Aiken County shall assume no responsibility for tuition to the receiving district.”
 
  
3.                  Public Education Partners donation to Paul Knox Middle School – FY14 (Mr. Laurence)
 
Public Education Partners made a $35,000 donation to Paul Knox Middle School. Funds from this donation will be used to support the installation of modules in the Paul Knox Middle School Synergistic Lab.
 
  
4.                  North Augusta High School Addition Project Phase I (Mr. Caver)
 
Bids were received for Aiken County Public Schools, North Augusta High School Addition Project Phase I on October 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. and publicly opened. Bids were received from 8 vendors with H.G. Reynolds Company, Inc. submitting the lowest base bid of $10,357,000.00.
  
 
5.                  Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Pilot Program at North Augusta High School (Mr. Laurence)
 
With the increase in demand for integrated instruction through the use of technology devices, the district has expanded opportunities for teachers and students in recent years. One option we have not implemented is to have students use their own devices for interactive and virtual learning in the classroom. This pilot would assess the reliability and cost effectiveness of BYOD.

The certified and classified personnel presented have been screened by the Personnel Services Department and interviewed and approved by the Principal and the Academic Officers.
